We’re proud to announce that Climate Hebrides has been named a finalist in the 2025 Scottish Charity Awards, under the Climate Impact category. We are delighted to see our island communities receiving national recognition for their climate action!
Driving Climate Resilience in the Western Isles
In the past year alone, Climate Hebrides has achieved several major milestones that demonstrate the power of local action:
✅ Our Climate Story – Engaging over 220 islanders who shared their lived experiences of climate change and ideas for adaptation.
✅ Growth of the Outer Hebrides Climate Hub – Now supporting 170+ members, including local businesses, community groups, and individuals.
✅ OH-COP1: The Outer Hebrides Climate Conference – A landmark event convening key stakeholders to chart a local path forward on climate action.
✅ Free sustainability training delivered across the islands, encouraging widespread awareness and practical skills for greener living.
✅ Seed funding for community climate projects, supporting initiatives in renewable energy, climate-friendly land use, and more.

The impact of Climate Hebrides has been widely acknowledged. David Maclennan, Head of Operations (West) for NatureScot and Chair of the Community Planning Partnership’s Climate Change Working Group, said:
