This January, Climate Hebrides invites you to embrace sustainable living with a week-long series of lunchtime training sessions. From 20th to 24th January, join us at the Third Sector Hebrides offices in Stornoway for engaging sessions that will help you make a positive impact on your local environment. We will be repeating these sessions for Harris residents the following week, from 27th – 31st January, in the North Harris Trust offices.
What’s on Offer?
Each session is one hour long and covers a key area of sustainable living:
- Nature-based Solutions
Discover how working with nature—such as rewilding and tree planting —can combat climate change while supporting local ecosystems.
- Waste Reduction
Learn about the different steps available to minimise waste in your home, workplace, and community.
- Food and Diet
Explore how making sustainable food choices, such as eating locally and reducing food waste, benefits both your health and the planet.
- Transport
Understand the environmental impact of different modes of transport and explore low-carbon travel options that work for you.
- Energy
Gain tips on improving energy efficiency, transitioning to renewable energy, and cutting your carbon footprint.
When and Where?
The sessions will run during lunchtime hours in the Third Sector Hebrides Offices, Stornoway. Our Tarbert sessions have been postponed until further notice. We aim to repeat these sessions in Uist next month, as well as host online versions of the course for those who cannot make it in person. We are in discussions about when and where we can host them in Barra too – watch this space!Â

- Monday – Thursday: 1-2pm
- Friday: 12-1pm
A Reward for Your Commitment
Participants who complete all five sessions will receive a Sustainability Certificate—a valuable acknowledgment of your commitment to sustainable living. It’s also a great addition to your CV!

Why Attend?
Living sustainably is more important than ever, and small, consistent changes can make a big difference. Our islands are at the forefront of climate change, threatened by rising sea levels, increased storm days, biodiversity loss, and many other threats to island life. These sessions are designed to be interactive, practical, and inspiring, giving you the knowledge and tools you need to take meaningful action in your daily life and protect our islands.
Whether you’re just starting your sustainability journey or looking to deepen your impact, this event is for you.
